Model UN Team Excels at Conference

The Wardlaw+Hartridge School Model United Nations team competed at the AMUN conference during the second weekend of February alongside high schools from throughout New Jersey and performed extremely well. Wardlaw+Hartridge students earned several team and individual honors including Outstanding Small Delegation, a Verbal Commendation for Camila Fang '20, Honorable Mention for Pooja Nandhyala '19, and Outstanding Delegate for Neil Shah '21.

MS Trivia Team Excels in Geo Bee

On Tuesday, January 29, middle school members of the Trivia Team participated in the 31st Annual National Geographic Bee, a competition of geographic skills, knowledge and understanding designed to foster and encourage curiosity about the world around us.

Noah Apter '21 Publishes Classics Book

Congratulations to Noah Apter '21, who is now a published author. The Wardlaw+Hartridge sophomore was inspired by his participation in a classics program called the Paideia Institute, a wide-ranging international program devoted to the study of classics. Noah has now published Plato's Apology of Socrates, a Translation, which is available for purchase on Amazon. "I feel that sharing my work with anyone who wants to access it is a valuable tool," Noah said. "Publishing is no small feat and I'm very excited!"

W+H Community Celebrates International Family Fun Night

Wardlaw+Hartridge held another successful International Family Fun Night and celebrated the many cultures represented in its diverse community on a wonderful evening with entertainment, great food and fun for the whole family. Guests enjoyed an international buffet while watching dances from different parts of the world. Many adults and some students also donned international attire and participated in performances to enhance the spirit of the event.

W+H Delegates Excel at Model UN Conference

EMPIREMUNC is an elite Model United Nations conference held at New York University. Delegates from across the globe come together to debate world issues in a formal setting. This year, W+H students represented Australia, the USSR, Wakanda, and other international bodies, both real and fictional. Camila Fang '20 participated in the most challenging committee at any college hosted conference, known as Ad Hoc. She came home with an Honorable Mention Award for her stellar performance. Dazlyn Erachshaw '19, another W+H delegate recognized for her performance at the conference, described EMPIRE as more than just a Model UN conference.

Stan DeLaurentiis '19 Excels in China

Stan DeLaurentiis '19 certainly represented his school and country well at the Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition. The event, held in Kunming City of southwest China's Yunnan Province, featured 110 teams of two students from 99 countries and five continents. Stan and his partner, Maxwell Horne of Riverdale Country Day School (NY), placed in the top 20 of this elite international competition. "It was a rewarding experience," Stan said. "The recognition of getting top 20 out of 110 teams was amazing. I really feel that our teamwork and collaborative efforts were unparalleled. He's very technical and traditional and his grammar is on point. I'm more emphatic and emotional and I brought those aspects to the competition. Our enthusiasm and love for the language and the culture really pushed us through the competition."

Noah Apter '21 Digs Deep into the Classics

Noah Apter '21 continues to acquire and master more classical knowledge than your average high school student. The Wardlaw+Hartridge sophomore has been inspired by his participation in a classics program called the Paideia Institute, a wide-ranging international program devoted to the study of classics. Noah has developed an interest in learning ancient Greek and last summer traveled abroad in the institute's Living Latin in Rome program, where he spent two weeks immersed in Rome learning Latin and experiencing the city with a group of high school students.

Stan DeLaurentiis '19 Set for China Competition

Stan DeLaurentiis '19 is eager to test his skills at the upcoming Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition, a large-scale international contest sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters. The competition is being held in Kunming City of southwest China's Yunnan Province. "I am extremely excited about this opportunity to take my Chinese skills to the highest level and experience a complete immersion in the language, surrounded by fellow students who share my same passion," Stan said.

International Students Bid Farewell at Luncheon

International students and their families enjoyed a Hot Pot lunch reception, prepared by Sage Dining Services, in the Oakwood Room on June 6. Gerard Gonnella '89, Director of the International Student Program, welcomed the families, and Andrew Webster, Head of School, and Dr. Olga Pagieva, ELL instructor and International Student Mentor, made remarks to recognize the eight graduating international students.

Students Share Talents at Spring Music Recital

Held in the new Berry Performing Arts Center for the first time, this year's recital featured many of the school's most talented vocal and instrumental performers. Patrons enjoyed a reception, sponsored by the W+H International Student Parents' Association and the International Student Organization, following the recital.

W+H Community Celebrates Lunar New Year

The Wardlaw+Hartridge community was treated to a wonderful show in celebration of Lunar New Year on Feb. 16 in the Berry Performing Arts Center. The show, organized by Mandarin instructors Hua Liu and Alice Zhao, entertained an audience of Middle and Upper School students, faculty, staff and parents. AP Chinese and Chinese 5 Honors students Suraj Chandran '18, Kevin Nader '18, Simu Singh '18, Shaun Martinez '18, Rishi Yasa '18 and Eddie Martinez '18 participated as dancers and shared the stage with all Chinese language students and international students.
