Athletics - New Fields
The Wardlaw + Hartridge athletic complex took on a whole new look in the fall of 2013 with the addition of two beautiful new artificial turf fields. All W-H soccer and lacrosse teams, ranging from middle school to varsity, compete on the home turf and enjoy the benefits of true bounces, durability, safety and proper drainage.
These athletic fields are classrooms in which our student-athletes learn the skills of collaboration, communication and leadership, and the traits of motivation, resilience and competition with honor. Our campus borders wetlands, and conditions are not favorable for maintaining outstanding grass fields, so the school made the decision to invest in the finest Field Turf fields available. They play very much like a top-grade grass field, but require very little maintenance and are extremely durable. We no longer have to skip practices and games because of weather conditions, and thus avoid disrupting the learning that occurs on those fields.
In the spring of 2014, work was completed on the new baseball and softball diamonds. The enhancements to each field included new dugouts, scoreboards and bleachers for spectators to enjoy the games.
