Performing Arts Center
The need to create dedicated Performing Arts space and remove that function from our All-Purpose Room is paramount among our plans. This new acoustically appropriate space will give our students opportunities to develop their talents across a spectrum of performing arts. Our present conditions are inadequate for musical or theatrical practices and performances.
A newly designed facility will be a cornerstone for our campus and our performing arts program. This space will create an enduring glue to bring our community closer together as never before, giving us opportunities for teaching, collaboration and cohesiveness.
The Performing Arts Center will provide a majestic scene as people approach our 36-acre campus. It will integrate seamlessly into our campus and will allow for two dynamic entrances to the school – one between the Lower School and the Performing Arts Center and one between the Performing Arts Center and our Middle School.
At approximately 9,800 square feet, the Performing Arts Center will have 328 seats and it will include a scene shop and dressing rooms, amenities we currently lack. With an attractive lobby, guests will be welcomed to each performance with a showcase of visual art by current and former students as well as pieces from a private art collection donated by an alumnus. Its prominent location will demonstrate the importance of the arts in the overall W-H educational experience.
