During this week campers will explore the various aspects of performing in the theater through participation in a wide variety of fun exercises and interactive theater games. They will study the exciting art and comedy of improvisation and will learn about the history of the theater. Campers will be taught how to create their own characters and will learn the terminology associated with the stage and acting. There will be a heavy concentration this week on monologue preparation and auditioning techniques and each child will have the opportunity to design and create his/her own theater mask. Through these fun activities the children will be encouraged to use their imaginations, be creative, work together and respect each other, while building their self-confidence and acting skills. No experience is necessary so come and join the fun!
Week 2: July 29 – August 2
This week campers will continue to study the art of improv and explore the various aspects of the theater through new and different exercises and theater games. They will work on developing new characters and will review stage directions and theater terminology. The focus this week will be on scene study. The campers will be given scenes to prepare and will work together in teams to write their own! They will also study and explore the wonderful world of Shakespeare. Again, no experience is necessary.
