Wardlaw+Hartridge students, faculty and staff have continued making a difference by helping others during the COVID-19 crisis.
This week’s list of community service stars includes:
Naischa Puri ’23 (pictured) – helped create a fundraiser to provide at least 250 meals to the staff at JFK Medical Center in Edison and a few other hospitals and nursing homes throughout New Jersey and New York. The fundraiser was a great success! Meals For Heroes has now surpassed their goal and sent out over 3,000 meals to various hospitals in New Jersey and New York.
Zachary Brzosko ’21 – making face masks with his brothers
Aarush Dharayan ’22 and Shreya Dharayan ’22 – donating meals to frontline workers and seniors through St. Peter’s Virtual Food Drive and organizing a food drive through the Community Food Bank of New Jersey
Kallie Schildge ’20 – making sandwiches for St. Joseph Social Service Center in Elizabeth
Faculty and staff members also have been doing their part:
Sharon Byrne – donated blood
Jean Castellano – supported a neighborhood effort to collect food items
Jason Murphy – joined friends to become pen pals with senior citizens
Lynn Pandure – baking and food shopping for elderly neighbors
Other W+H initiatives being considered include a fundraiser to support medical professionals on the front lines, making masks, sending thank-you notes to medical professionals and first responders, and donating meals for hospital workers.
