Posted 05/07/2020 12:56PM

Wardlaw+Hartridge students, faculty and staff have continued making a difference by helping others during the COVID-19 crisis.

This week’s list of community service stars includes:

Naischa Puri ’23 (pictured) – helped create a fundraiser to provide at least 250 meals to the staff at JFK Medical Center in Edison and a few other hospitals and nursing homes throughout New Jersey and New York. The fundraiser was a great success! Meals For Heroes has now surpassed their goal and sent out over 3,000 meals to various hospitals in New Jersey and New York.

Zachary Brzosko ’21 – making face masks with his brothers

Aarush Dharayan ’22 and Shreya Dharayan ’22 – donating meals to frontline workers and seniors through St. Peter’s Virtual Food Drive and organizing a food drive through the Community Food Bank of New Jersey

Kallie Schildge ’20 – making sandwiches for St. Joseph Social Service Center in Elizabeth

Faculty and staff members also have been doing their part:

Sharon Byrne – donated blood

Jean Castellano – supported a neighborhood effort to collect food items

Jason Murphy – joined friends to become pen pals with senior citizens

Lynn Pandure – baking and food shopping for elderly neighbors

Other W+H initiatives being considered include a fundraiser to support medical professionals on the front lines, making masks, sending thank-you notes to medical professionals and first responders, and donating meals for hospital workers.
