After School Programs

Wardlaw+Hartridge’s After School program is an integral part of the W+H experience and a natural extension of the school day. The After School program is a dynamic enrichment option for all students at Wardlaw+Hartridge’s Lower School and Middle School. After School at W+H consists of three elements: Enrichment Courses, Encore Program, and Explorers Program.

Our After School program echoes W+H’s commitment to develop active problem-solvers and nurture independent thinkers where our devoted staff engage and challenge our students. Whether students are enrolled in one of our enrichment courses or participate in our Encore or Explorers program, we create a seamless transition from Wardlaw+Hartridge’s school day while promoting a sense of community for our students.

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT COURSES

After School enrichment at Wardlaw+Hartridge is designed to provide students in our lower school with enjoyable and educational experiences in art, science, and athletics, and more.

Courses are developed for a variety of age and interest levels and taught by experienced professionals, as well as W+H faculty, during three terms: fall, winter, and spring. Our fall courses run September - December, winter courses run January - March, and spring courses run April - June.

Courses meet once a week, for a period of 6-13 weeks. Times, exact dates of course meetings, and fees are indicated in the course descriptions below.

Enrichment Course Registration

Course registration takes place using an online form; families will receive more information about course registration before each term. Typically, fall registration will take place in mid-August, winter registration will take place in mid-December, and Spring registration will take place in early March.

Enrichment Courses are filled on a first-come, first served basis.  Popular courses may fill up very quickly after registration begins, so please plan accordingly. Students enrolled in an after school enrichment course will attend the Encore or Explorers program until they are picked up for their course, at no additional cost.

If you are interested in a course that is already full, please contact Chris Flores at cflores@WHschool.org and you will be added to a waitlist. If enough students are interested, there may be an opportunity to add a second section of a class that is full.

EXPLORERS and ENCORE PROGRAM

Wardlaw+Hartridge offers after school care for students in PreK - 8th grade through our Explorers and Encore program. Our Explorers Program (grades PreK - K) and Encore Program (grades 1-8) are supervised by experienced staff who lead activities such as games, arts and crafts, outdoor and indoor play, homework help, and much more. Students have the opportunity to socialize with their friends and interact with students in different classes and different grades. Our Explorers and Encore program starts at the end of the school day and runs until 6pm.

Explorers and Encore Registration

Families are encouraged to pre-purchase packages of childcare hours before each After School term (fall, winter, spring) based on the number of hours they expect to use to take advantage of lower costs. Packages are only valid for the term in which they are purchased, and hours cannot be rolled over to the following term or school year.

Fall Package Fees (September - December)
160 Hours = $1,760
100 Hours = $1,200
60 hours = $780

Winter Package Fees (January - March)
120 Hours = $1,320
80 Hours = $960
40 Hours = $520

Spring Package Fees (April - June)

80 Hours = $960
40 Hours = $520

More Information about purchasing packages, and how they work, will go out to families before each term begins.

Drop-In Fees

Families who do not register and pre-purchase a package may still utilize the Encore and Explorers program on a regular or as-needed basis. The drop-in fee for unregistered students is $15/hour per child and families will be charged at the end of each month. Families who need to use the drop-in service need to contact Chris Flores at cflores@WHschool.org no later than 1:30pm the day you wish for your child to attend.

Fees for Late Pick-Up

All parents and caregivers are asked to pick up their children at or before 6:00 pm, when the After School program ends. Parents who are late will be billed according to the following fee structure:

  • 6:00-6:15pm $10 (for the first 15 minutes)
  • An additional $15 for the next 15 minutes (6:15-6:30 pm)
  • An additional $20 for each 15 minutes (after 6:30pm)

PLEASE NOTE: Fees for late pick-up are not a part of the package fees and are charged separately. You can not use prepaid package hours to offset late pickup fees.
