Health Services
The School Nurse supports student success by providing health care assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all students at The Wardlaw+Hartridge School. The School Nurse provides care to students or staff who have been injured or who present with acute illnesses. The School Nurse is responsible for medication administration and the performance of health care procedures that are within the scope of nursing practice and are ordered by an appropriately licensed health care provider. Local and state health ordinances are utilized, as well. In order to address potential health problems that are barriers to learning or symptoms of underlying medical conditions, the School Nurse is often an active part of team meetings. Frequent, confidential communication is emphasized with administrators, learning specialists, teachers, school counselors, staff, athletics personnel, and families for a holistic approach to the mental, emotional, and physical well being of our students’ health. The nurse is dually employed by the Educational Services Commission of NJ (ESCNJ).
