| A MESSAGE FROM OUR LOWER SCHOOL HEAD JohnEric Advento, Lower School Head, shares gratitude for the many contributions of W+H parents in his recent blog post. Below is an excerpt: The Spring Gala was a festive 1920's themed party that was masterfully executed by our WHPA and Advancement Team. Thank you to all that contributed to making that Saturday evening such a special night. Coming together for the express purpose of securing financial support for the advancement of the school is important and critical work. I want to thank many of you that support our school with your time and tireless volunteer work as we all recognize that the day-to-day running of a school truly takes a village. | A MESSAGE FROM OUR CO-DIRECTOR OF COLLEGE COUNSELING Sarah Honan, Co-Director of College Counseling, delivers a powerful and meaningful message in her recent blog post. Below is an excerpt: I recently had the pleasure of attending a conference that brought together Directors of College Counseling alongside Directors of Admission and VPs of Enrollment Management from schools across the country. In our three-day summit, we discussed a variety of topics from the mental health crisis we're seeing in our young people, to the future of test-optional admissions, to the changes the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the way counselors (and by extension our students) connect with admissions folks across the aisle. Interestingly, one topic that repeatedly found its way into the conversation was the role of "authenticity" in the college admissions process - why schools care about it and why students seem to be struggling to "just be who they are" more than ever. | COOKIN' CABARET ROCKS THE PAC The audience was left in awe after watching 90 minutes of outstanding entertainment at the 13th annual Cookin' Cabaret, held for the first time in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Upper School students performed a variety of vocals and instrumentals, including solos, duets and ensembles, and also added variety with a dance routine. One of the show's many highlights was a rocking rendition of Led Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks, featuring Charlie Silver '24 on guitar, David Flatau-Jones '23 on saxophone, Luke Tan '24 on drums and Naischa Puri '23 and Raiya Patel '24 on vocals. Members of the Concert Choir closed the evening with a spirited performance of This is Me from The Greatest Showman. COOKIN' CABARET PHOTO GALLERY |

| US STUDENTS PROUDLY DISPLAY ARTWORK Students, parents, faculty and friends enjoyed perusing the outstanding artistic works of our students at last week's Upper School Art Show, which was held prior to the Cookin' Cabaret. The Upper School Art Show contained exhibited work created throughout the current school year. The show is curated work from Level I art students all the way up through second year AP art students. The selections were created in a variety of mediums including still life drawings from observation, dream paintings, paintings that play with scale, graphic designs, abstract photographs, landscape photography, and portrait photography. "It is wonderful to see the range of talent and creativity that the students possess, all located in one location," Upper School art teacher Andrew Sullivan said. "Congratulations to all of the Upper School art students!" UPPER SCHOOL ART SHOW PHOTO GALLERY |

| SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL RETURNS Students in grades 6-8 displayed poise, flexibility and dramatic talent to bring back a wonderful tradition in last Friday's Middle School Shakespeare Festival. The morning began in the Berry Performing Arts Center due to inclement weather. Eighth-grader Sofia Romero '26 created program booklets for the event and sixth-grader Veer Kansal '28 introduced the program with a short biography of William Shakespeare. Sixth-graders took the stage first and read 30 of the 154 sonnets written by Shakespeare. Mr. Ian McElroy's seventh graders followed with recitations of monologues, soliloquies and short dialogues from many of Shakespeare's plays. Improving weather conditions allowed the Middle School to move the rest of the festival outdoors to the amphitheatre, where all were treated to a few scenes from Macbeth performed by Dr. Crafton's English class. Finally, Middle School students and faculty enjoyed three scenes from A Midsummer Night's Dream performed by Ms. Dorri Ramati's eighth-grade English classes. Congratulations to the students and their teachers for their collaboration and efforts in the rebirth of the Shakespeare tradition at W+H! SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL PHOTO GALLERY |

| ANNIE GU '23 LEADS MODEL UN TEAM The Model UN team recently competed in an event at nearby JP Stevens High School. This conference provided a great opportunity for Wardlaw+Hartridge's growing delegation. With a wide variety of conference subjects ranging from World Cup workers' rights to a zombie apocalypse, it was an exhilarating experience for the club to finally compete in person in light of the pandemic. It was a great experience for both W+H veterans and the newer delegates to experience the intense action of Model UN. Annie Gu '23 won Best Delegate in her first 'Ad-Hoc' committee, the most challenging of all Model UN events. "From writing resolutions on protecting developing nations' sovereignty, to discussions of zombie marriage rights, it was an exciting day of growth for everyone," Model UN club advisor Cristian Fernandez said. | EMILY O'NEILL '27 ENJOYS DAY IN CHARGE Emily O'Neill '27 looked the part and played it well in her day as acting Middle School Head on May 25. She arrived on campus bright and early and met with Ms. Jennifer Rose, Middle School Head, to prepare for the day. Emily greeted students and faculty as they arrived. While juggling her responsibilities as a seventh-grade student, Emily also hosted the Middle School's full division meeting in the Berry Performing Arts Center, enjoyed an outdoor lunch with friends and made announcements during lunch in the AP Room. Her most important announcement called for a dress down day on June 6. Emily later met with the school's division heads, Associate Head of School Dr. Corinna Crafton and Andy Webster, Head of School, in Mr. Webster's office. She completed her day by assisting in the dismissal of Middle School students. MS HEAD FOR DAY PHOTO GALLERY |
