Middle School
At The Wardlaw + Hartridge School, Middle Schoolers navigate a fascinating period in their development as they move through early adolescence, developing from concrete to abstract thinkers and growing daily in independence. Our Middle School is staffed by a group of talented educators dedicated to guiding students and families through this sea of changes. The Middle School is a place where young people embrace their individuality, cultivate their self-confidence, and discover more of their talents.
We work hard to create a positive environment for our Middle School students, nurturing and supporting them as they assume more responsibility, learn to take risks, tackle academic challenges, engage with the world around them, and take initiative. Immersed in rigorous and interdisciplinary learning, our Middle Schoolers seize the rich opportunities every day presents during this exciting time of growing intellects and identities. Hands-on learning and energetic student involvement are encouraged in the Middle School. This is true both in the classroom and on the athletic field. An advisee/advisor system builds bonds between students and faculty while continuing to nurture the bonds between parents and faculty established in the Lower School. We strive to support students in discovering their authentic talents, cooperating with each other, and seeking new challenges - making us a top private and independent middle school not only in Middlesex County but in New Jersey and beyond.
