Spring in the Lower School!

Spring in the Lower School!
Erin Leonard

What a wonderful spring we have enjoyed in the Lower School, beginning with our celebration of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, the second day of spring. Our students and teachers embraced the day with enthusiasm, celebrating our love for “Mother Earth” through a variety of meaningful activities. From planting seeds and weeding in the Lower School Garden to helping beautify our campus by picking up trash, the day was filled with purpose and joy. We were especially grateful to spend time with members of the Upper School Green Club, whose support throughout the day made the experience even more special. We always love welcoming our “Big Buddies” from the Upper School!

Our deep exploration of sustainability continued throughout the month, reflecting our commitment to April’s Core Value. The Junior Master Gardener program for students in PreK, JK and Kindergarten is thriving, with engaging lessons focused on nutrition, gardening and environmental stewardship. We are excited that next year our first and second graders will join our “soon-to-be” certified Junior Master Gardeners in the Early Childhood program. We look forward to many more enriching and hands-on learning experiences.

As May’s Core Value of Collaboration unfolds, we have also enjoyed a special highlight with our Spring Music Concerts and Art Show. These were examples of collaboration at its best! My sincere thanks to Mrs. Shannon Sari and Mrs. Sara McDermott for their outstanding leadership and vision. Their passion for teaching music and art shines brightly each day and is especially evident during these showcase events.

As my second year at The Wardlaw+Hartridge School comes to a close, I reflect with deep gratitude on the unwavering support and kindness shown by our Lower School teachers, administrators, staff, students and parents. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the W+H community and look forward to the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead next year. Please know how much I value and appreciate your partnership, your time and your steadfast commitment to your children and to our wonderful school community.
