Ebscohost is a database that provides access to over 4,000 magazines, newspapers and journals. Students may choose to search one or several of the databases at once. Full text articles are offered in both HTML and PDF format on thousands of titles.
In addition to the magazine database, Ebscohost also provides “Literary Reference Center” (Information on thousands of authors and their works), “NoveList” and “Novelist K-8” (search by author, plots, reviews, and series), “Points of View” (full-text essays that provide multiple sides of a current issue, point and counterpoint), and “Salud en Espanol” (reports and fact sheets in Spanish on all aspects of consumer health and wellness)
The New York Times is an American daily newspaper, founded and continuously published in New York City since September 18, 1951. The paper’s motto, “All the News That’s Fit to Print”, appears in the upper left-hand corner of the front page. Since the mid-1970s, it has greatly expanded its lay-out and organization, adding special weekly sections on various topics supplementing the regular news, editorials, sports and features. Recently it has been organized into sections; News, Editorials/Opinions-Columns/Op-Ed, New York (metropolitan), Business, Sports of The Times, Arts, Science, Styles, Home, Travel and other features.

It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of over half a million words, both present and past. Benefits of OEDOnline include unprecedented access to the 20-volume Second Edition and at least 1,800 new and revised words each quarter; everything from simple word look-ups to sophisticated Boolean searching; finding a term when you know the meaning but have forgotten the word; using wildcards if you are from a particular author and/or work; searching for first cited dates, authors and works; searching for words with a particular part of speech.
Britannica School’s content is available at all reading levels for elementary, middle, and upper school students. This database is excellent for general research to help students find information needed for classwork and assignments. Once a topic is found, three tabs are available: the encyclopedia article, images and videos, and related. Under the related tab, students can locate different articles in the encyclopedia, plus by clicking on “Web’s Best Sites,” they are directed to websites selected by the Britannica editors for quality and age-appropriateness.
BrainPop is a group of educational websites with over 1,000 short animated movies for students in grades K-12, together with quizzes and related materials, covering the subjects of science, social studies, English, math, engineering and technology, health, and arts and music.
