The Wardlaw+Hartridge School provided A Night of Broadway, a student-led concert of pre-recorded and live musical theater songs performed by the participants of the annual W+H Performing Arts & Audio-Visual Summer Camp. The free two-hour performance, held July 16 in the Berry Performing Arts Center, featured an entertaining array of Broadway favorites from shows including Beauty and the Beast, Hamilton, Shrek A Chorus Line, Wicked, Mamma Mia, Chicago, Rent and Newsies.
After four weeks of hard work in the camp gaining experience in performance, choreography, costume and set design, studio recording, video production, editing and theatrical lighting design, the students executed a successful and entertaining production.
W+H students who participated in the Musical Production Summer Program included Aanya Chaturvedi ’29, Riya Chaturvedi ’31, Geeta Kumar ’29, Krishna Kumar ’29, Raymond Han ’28, Sanaya Joshi ’30, Avery Marucheck ’33, Shiv Bhardwaj ’31, Sanjana Bhardwaj ’29, Delphine Aitken ’29, Grace Gonnella ’31, Leah Alves ’29, Briana Tobin-Montanez ’31, Eliana Ekong-Reid ’31, Vivienne Leu ’31, Amaya Jha ’32, Xavier Gehl ’32 and Chanel Brazoban ’32.
Creative co-directors Julian Jenson and Susy Leiva Jenson worked with the students daily and take great pride in what the young singers, producers and editors accomplished in such a short time: “Since our inaugural first year of operation three summers ago, we have been gifted a vibrant group of students who have exceeded our expectations and proven to themselves they are capable of great things, especially when they work hand-in-hand.”
