W+H Seniors Earn GMC Sportsmanship Awards

Rudy Brandl

Wardlaw+Hartridge athletes and teams often receive recognition for outstanding sportsmanship. Earlier this spring, W+H seniors Zain Zaidi ’22 and Izabel Korycki ’22 represented the school at the 21st Annual Greater Middlesex Conference Sportsmanship Banquet.

Zain and Izabel were selected as the W+H recipients and honored along with student athletes from 35 schools in Middlesex County. They also accepted the GMC Gold Division’s Team Sportsmanship Award, which was presented to the W+H athletic program. Other team divisional winners were J.P. Stevens (Red), Carteret (White) and Mother Seton (Blue).

The W+H honorees embody the philosophy printed on the event program, a quote from former tennis star Jim Courier: “Sportsmanship for me is when a guy walks off the court and you can’t tell whether he won or lost, when he carries himself with pride either way.”
