W+H Community Joins Interfaith RISE Walkathon

Rudy Brandl

The W+H community returned to the Interfaith RISE Walkathon after a one-year COVID hiatus and participated in the organization’s seventh annual event in Highland Park on Nov. 7. Members of the school community walked to support the efforts of IRISE to welcome refugee and asylum families to the United States from countries like Afghanistan, Guatemala, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and others.

The organization will be tasked with resettling 400 refugees from Afghanistan and other countries in the next 12 months. Participants in the walk listened to stories from community leaders and resettled individuals. Many also showed support by holding up signs reflecting a positive spirit.
