The W+H community of students, parents, alumni, faculty and friends embraced connection and camaraderie while enjoying games, food and plenty of sunshine at Fall Fair and Homecoming Day on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Seniors in the Class of 2026 served breakfast starting at 8 a.m. as parent volunteers arrived to set up stations for the day. An eager group of fourth and fifth grade competitors and their families arrived soon after to prepare for the annual Fall Fair soccer game. The young student athletes battled with spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship and the game ended in a 4-4 tie.
The campus began to fill as Middle School athletic events in soccer, tennis and cross country began at 9:30 a.m.. While the Rams competed, the Booster Club was busy preparing for the lunch crowd by firing up the grills. The Middle School French fries and various snack stands, featuring everything from popcorn to snow cones, were among the many food options available for guests to enjoy throughout the day.
Students from all three divisions, along with many parents, enjoyed the games, crafts, rides and petting zoo. The afternoon included a boys’ varsity soccer game, which the Rams won 5-1, and the annual Alumni Soccer Game on the East Turf Field, featuring many players from the 1975 Wardlaw state championship team that was celebrating the 50th anniversary of its title.
The annual Alumni Awards Ceremony took place at 4 p.m. in the Berry Performing Arts Center (scroll to read story below), followed by a reception at 5:30 p.m. in the AP Room. The Class of 1975, along with some guests from alumni in other surrounding classes, celebrated its 50th reunion with a series of events throughout the day, concluding with dinner in the Oakwood Room.
