The Wardlaw+Hartridge athletic department held Rams Recognition Night to celebrate the accomplishments of the school’s athletes and teams, on June 1 in the AP Room. Karl Miran, Athletic Director, led the ceremony with Ryan Oliveira, Head Athletic Trainer, and Courtney McClain, Assistant Athletic Director.
Two juniors who compiled at least nine varsity letters received W+H blankets: Cherice Clarke ’23 and Loveleen Sindhar ’23.
The varsity girls’ golf team received the Highest GPA Award and also celebrated its many amazing accomplishments, including a second consecutive perfect season and state championship triumph.
Longtime W+H tennis coach Ron Haynes was honored as Coach of the Year. His girls’ team won the division title last fall.
Senior athletes who participated for four years in the same sport received special personalized rosewood boxes: Nikolette Aponte ’22, Andrew Bao ’22 Emily Brogan ’22, Kori Brown ’22, Zachary Brzosko ’22, Jay DaSilva ’22, Aarush Dharayan ’22, Shreya Dharayan ’22, Rose Kassam ’22, Feisal Kiiru ’22, Izabel Korycki ’22, Grace Lu ’22, Chioma Okezie ’22, Krishna Patel ’22, Kunal Patel ’22, Shankari Theivanayagam ’22, Shiv Tickoo ’22, Nate Valcourt ’22, Jenelle Valera ’22, Zain Zaidi ’22 and Bo (Oliver) Zhao ’22.
Andy Webster, Head of School, presented the Max Stevens Leadership and Athletics Award to Gyrord Gregoire ’23. This award has been endowed by the Stevens family, friends, alumni and former trustees in memory of Max Stevens ’04, who passed away in 2020. Max embodied many of the school’s core values during his many years as a student and alumnus. This award provides funding for the annual recipient to pursue a leadership program of their choice, ensuring that Max’s legacy will live on in our students and graduates.
Seniors Emily Brogan, Aarush Dharayan, Izabel Korycki, Grace Lu and Shankari Theivanayagam also delivered meaningful speeches and shared stories reflecting the value of their athletic experiences at Wardlaw+Hartridge. These speeches will be posted on the school's website later this month.
