W+H Athletes, Teams Honored at Rams Recognition Night

The Wardlaw+Hartridge athletic department held Rams Recognition Night to celebrate the accomplishments of the school’s athletes and teams, on June 11 under the tent adjacent to Booster Club Fields.  Karl Miran, Athletic Director, and Ryan Oliveira, Assistant Athletic Director, led the ceremony.

Eight seniors and two juniors who compiled at least nine varsity letters received W+H blankets: Mikayla Cole ’21, Kynise Dixon ’21, Austin Forsythe ’21, Zane Lee-Briggs ’21, Brian Machado ’21, Camila Martinez ’21, Nadia Valcourt ’21, Taliyah Williams ’21, Emily Brogan ’22 and Izabel Korycki ’22.

Jim Howard was named Coach of the Year and the varsity girls’ golf team received the Highest GPA Award. The girls’ golf team was later celebrated for its many amazing accomplishments, including a perfect season and state championship triumph.

Senior athletes who participated for four years in the same sport received special personalized rosewood boxes: Olivia Brown ’21, Alex Caiola ’21, Mikayla Cole ’21, Olivia De Sousa ’21, Ariana Di Landro ’21, Kynise Dixon ’21, Simone Erachshaw ’21, Austin Forsythe ’21, Nicolas Hernandez-Webster ’21, Saleem Ibraheem ’21, Tyler Jones ’21, Zane Lee-Briggs ’21, Nyela Liverpool ’21, Brian Machado ’21, Camila Martinez ’21, Sara Reiss ’21, Sydney Sweeney ’21, Nadia Valcourt ’21, Taliyah Williams ’21 and Isabella Wysocki ’21.

Andy Webster, Head of School, made the inaugural presentation of the Max Stevens Leadership and Athletics Award to Izabel Korycki ’22. This award has been endowed by the Stevens family, friends, alumni and former trustees in memory of Max Stevens ’04, who passed away last summer. Max embodied many of the school’s core values during his many years as a student and alumnus. This award provides funding for the annual recipient to pursue a leadership program of their choice, ensuring that Max’s legacy will live on in our students and graduates.

Ariana Di Landro ’21 and Zane Lee-Briggs ’21, representing the Captains’ Council, delivered meaningful speeches and shared stories reflecting the value of their athletic experiences at Wardlaw+Hartridge.
