Visiting Author Enlightens Lower School Students

Rudy Brandl

Lower School students and parents enjoyed a special treat at the weekly assembly on Friday, Nov. 15 in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Author Kat Rees D’Ambola, joined by her husband, Chris, entertained the audience with a book and music.

Kat began by reading her children’s book, Deep Breath, Octopus, and sang a few songs with Chris playing an electric ukulele. The audience clapped to the beat and joined in singing the songs they knew. Kat loves writing stories and songs for kids that focus on nature and encourage emotional growth. Her goal is to inspire magical moments with kids through books and music.

After a brief Q&A during which Kat and Chris shared their love for the creative process, the artists joined Mrs. Donna Pedde’s fourth grade class for a photo on the stage. Mrs. Pedde, who has been friends with Kat and Chris for many years, arranged for the visit. Kat signed books for the families who purchased them after the assembly.
