Upper School Students Share Talents at Cookin’ Cabaret

Rudy Brandl

Upper School students, along with two faculty members, provided an evening of outstanding entertainment at the 14th annual Cookin’ Cabaret in the AP Room on May 25. MadJazz opened the show with Stevie Wonder’s Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing and the Concert Choir performed Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody as the finale, but there were also many memorable performances in between.

Highlights included vocal and instrumental renditions to favorites by stars including Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Adele and John Legend. A rock band with students Naischa Puri ’23 and Raiya Patel ’24 on vocals, David Flatau-Jones ’23 and Charlie Silver ’24 on guitar and Luke Tan ’24 on percussion took the audience back to the 1970s with a wonderful cover of Fleetwood Mac’s The Chain. Other vocal standouts included Kamila Franco ’25, Ishi Singh ’24, Sarah Alves ’24 and Julia Machado ’25.

Upper School faculty members Cristian Fernandez and Nick Pelullo added to the fun with their own original works. Mr. Fernandez performed his own composition, Peace of Mind, with a vocal and guitar solo. Mr. Pelullo recited two of his very own selected poems.
