Aanya Chaturvedi ’29, Talia Levy ’29 and Arika Shah ’29 were selected to participate in this year's Region II Chorus festival on January 25 in the Nicolas Music Center at Rutgers University. They were selected through an in-person competitive audition held at J.P. Stevens High School on December 13 against nearly 100 other singers on their respective voice parts.
Each student sang two 8-note major scales, one 8-note chromatic scale, and the vocal solo “The Turtle Dove” a cappella. They also sang their voice part from an excerpt of the choir song “The Silver Swan” that was performed with a recording of other singers singing four other voice parts.
“We are very proud of our students for being selected through this rigorous audition procedure and wish them the best as they make music with new friends from other high school choral programs in our region,” said Mrs. Sharon Byrne, Performing Arts Department Chair.
