Second Graders Recite Haiku Poems at Lower School Assembly

Rudy Brandl '83

Second graders in the class of Mrs. Jennifer Molloy shared their Haiku poems with the community during the Lower School Assembly on Friday, April 24 in the Berry Performing Arts Center.

The class has been busy writing and reading poems in their poetry unit. The students read a book called Dogku by Andrew Clements, which features a Haiku poem on every page. The book tells the tale of a puppy that wants a forever home. The Lower School has been working with the Paws for Hope Humane Society in Plainfield with various fundraising initiatives throughout the school year so the second graders decided to write Haikus about the different dogs available for adoption. They shared their poems with an accompanying slideshow presentation featuring the dogs for the Lower School community.
