Rajwans Sindhar ‘25 was among four local high school seniors to receive Good Citizen Awards from The Westfield Chapter of The Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR). Schools selected one Good Citizen from their senior class based on Dependability (truthfulness, loyalty, punctuality), Service (cooperation, courtesy, consideration of others), Leadership (personality, self-control, responsibility), and Patriotism (unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation).

DAR members Barbara Benko (Westfield Chapter Vice Regent), Lisa Kane (Good Citizen Committee Chair) and Victoria Freeman, a W+H alumna from the Class of 1992, presented Rajwans with a DAR Good Citizen Certificate, pin and wallet card in the W+H College Counseling Office on Thursday, April 3. Each winner also received a $100 cash prize donated by the Westfield DAR Chapter. Rajwans also was joined by Sarah Honan, Director of College Counseling, and Alayne Birnhak, Associate Director of College Counseling.

“Being recognized as a DAR Good Citizen is a great honor that sheds light on my deep commitment to serving and contributing to a community bigger than just myself,” Rajwans said. “The recognition highlights the importance of responsibility, leadership, and patriotism, qualities that I strive to embody every day. I am very grateful and privileged to be recognized as one of four in the Westfield chapter.”

Rajwans performed extremely well in all the criteria for this recognition, which included a DAR Scholarship Essay and a superb record of service. She has maintained an extremely active schedule with various school and community projects holding multiple leadership positions. A W+H Global Scholar, she has served as co-leader of the South Asian Student Alliance, captain of the varsity girls’ soccer and basketball teams, president of the Judiciary Board, a peer leader, member of the track and field team, yearbook, and Women in STEM, a tutor for Interfaith RISE, and member of TEEEM (The Empathy Equality Entrepreneurship Mission).
