Peer Leaders, Students Bond at Retreat

Rudy Brandl '83

On November 24, the Peer Leadership Program embarked on its annual overnight retreat where the senior peer leaders worked to solidify the bonds they have been creating throughout the school year with the ninth grade class.

During this retreat, the seniors meet with their ninth grade peer groups and hold various lessons and activities. This event helps the ninth graders grow together and learn what it really means to be part of our community. The senior peer leaders and ninth graders provided feedback that reflects the success of the retreat.

“We think the retreat was a success and brought us closer as a peer group,” Mohisha Jha ’26 and Dharren Culver ’26 said.

“This experience has changed the dynamic of our peer leadership group for the better. The bonds we were able to make with one another will be carried on into our group throughout the school year. We had so much fun and hope to continue to grow as a peer leadership group as the year progresses,” Giannalise Rodriguez ’26 and Ryan Maciorowski ’26 said.

“I thought our peer group became more connected and we had a great time getting closer with each other, having meaningful conversations in our room,” Siddharth Selvaraj ’29 said.

The impact of this retreat was visible. The students were actively speaking about how amazing it was and the great time that they had. Peer Leadership co-advisor Miss Tanda Tucker noted that during her cheer practice after the retreat, her ninth grade student-athletes were speaking about how wonderful the retreat was for them.

“We are extremely proud of our senior peer leaders for running such an amazing retreat and for always continuing to elevate the level of this peer leadership program!” said Mr. Ryan Oliveira, Peer Leadership co-advisor.
