Natalie Chen '26 recently represented Wardlaw+Hartridge on an international stage through the TEEEM x Yale UNICEF x The Snapshots Project (TYS) Program, a highly selective new initiative that connects student leaders with mentors from Yale University. Chosen by TEEEM’s Board of Directors, Natalie was one of just seven students selected from across the organization’s global network. She presented her work at Yale on April 18, joining peers in showcasing projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
“Through Threads of TEEEM, I’ve learned that while our backgrounds may differ, our stories often connect us in powerful ways,” Natalie shared. “By creating space for these conversations, we can build empathy and become more thoughtful global citizens.”
Working alongside her Yale mentor, Julianna, Natalie developed “Threads of TEEEM,” a virtual pen pal platform designed to bridge cultural divides and foster meaningful connections among students worldwide. The project creates opportunities for students from countries such as the United States, Kenya, Ukraine and Uganda to engage in authentic dialogue, encouraging both cultural exchange and mutual understanding.
Natalie’s work highlights the core mission of the TYS Program: empowering students to think globally and act with purpose. By building a platform that promotes collaboration, empathy and engagement, she has created a lasting impact that extends far beyond the classroom, bringing students together and helping to shape a more connected and compassionate global community.
