
The Middle School celebrated an exciting athletic season at the Winter Sports Awards in the Berry Performing Arts Center on February 18. Mike Romeo, Athletic Director, hosted the event and saluted the student athletes for their hard work, perseverance and dedication.
Fencing coach Jerry Duffey shared brief remarks and highlights about the inaugural season of the newest W+H athletic program. Girls’ basketball coach Sarina Morales was beaming with pride as she reflected on a season that included an outstanding 9-3 record but was successful on many more levels. Boys’ basketball coach Jeff Martin spoke about the Green and Gold basketball teams and how they met his expectations during a season that included growth and fun. Mr. Romeo shared impressive highlights on behalf of the Middle School swimming and cheerleading coaches. All teams gathered on the stage for their team photos and the athletes received their participation certificates after the assembly.
Mr. Romeo concluded the event with a preview of the upcoming spring athletic season and took an informal poll of students interested in baseball, softball, boys’ tennis and track and field. Spring sports begin March 3.
