Students in Grades 6-8 provided a wonderful evening of entertainment at the Middle School Winter Concert on Dec. 12 in the Berry Performing Arts Center. They were expertly guided by choir teachers Sharon Byrne and Shannon Sari, and band instructor Tim Burke.
Nine ensembles performed on the stage and risers: the Sixth Grade Band, Cantores, Symphonic Band, Sixth Grade Choir, Wind Ensemble, Chorale, Jazz Band, Vocal Ensemble and Combined Choirs. Highlights included Aurora Borealis (A Song of Alaska) featuring solos by Geeta Kumar ’29 and Sebastian Lawson ’29; A Winter Song by the Sixth Grade Choir; Celtic Bell Carol by the Wind Ensemble; Listen Here by the Jazz Band featuring a solo by Hamilton Ji Dressel ’29 on alto saxophone; and Mariah Carey’s popular All I Want for Christmas is You by the Vocal Ensemble with a soprano solo by Vivienne Leu ’31. The show ended with a rousing finale by the Combined Choirs featuring a surprise visit by a giant minion during Happy from Despicable Me 2.
