Middle School Students Enjoy Literary Competition

Rudy Brandl '83

Every year in celebration of National Book Month, Middle School advisories work together to spotlight a book they believe is particularly important or meaningful to them. They collaborate to create a representation of that book as an advisory door display to share their love of literature and provide a festive backdrop for our all-school Halloween parade. This long running tradition is a beloved advisory contest with voting open to the entire Upper School community, many of whom look fondly back on their own Middle School days and door decoration.

This year, more than 75 Upper School faculty members and students visited the Middle School to check out the displays and vote for their favorite. Highlights included Miss Tanda Tucker’s eighth-grade advisory, who created a display for Fever 1793, and Ms. Erika Del Rocco’s sixth-grade advisory, who recreated the yellow brick road with their Wizard of Oz display. In the end, however, Ms. Dorri Ramati’s sixth grade advisory captured the title and won first place for its Harry Potter themed door. Students in the winning advisory included Raj Brahmbhatt ’32, Chanel Brazoban ’32, Ella Byrne ’32, Xavier Gehl ’32, Elizabeth Jones ’32, Lathan Shafer ’32, Aanvi Shrestha ’32, Ian St. Hillaire ’32, Akira Vijay ’32 and Jiya Vora ’32. Congratulations to all of this year’s participants!
