Lower School Students Enjoy Nature Inspired STEAM Day

Rudy Brandl '83

Students in PreK(3)-Grade 5 enjoyed a variety of activities during Lower School STEAM Day on May 1. Mrs. Kelly Coleman ’98, Lower School STEM teacher, planned a day that centered around nature and taking care of the Earth.

Early Childhood students in PreK(3)-Grade 1 participated in scavenger hunts outside while grades 2-5 completed lessons selected by Mrs. Coleman. Grade level examples included building a tree and creating things like bracelets out of one plastic bag.

The teachers learned ways to incorporate STEM into their daily academics and the students enjoyed the hands-on activities. Mrs. Coleman is looking forward to next year's STEAM day with some more great additions.
