The Lower School Garden Club spent a beautiful autumn afternoon after school harvesting pumpkins for distribution to all grade levels in the division. They were joined by Upper School students in the Green Club and Native Wildlife Protection Club, along with Lower School teachers and administrators. The Native Wildlife Protection Club also released butterflies into the garden after many Lower School Garden Club members enjoyed the opportunity to touch the butterflies. It was a wonderful afternoon of connection and collaboration between the younger and older students.
Students in PreK(3) through Grade 5 received their pumpkins during a lunchtime assembly in the AP Room and spent a few days decorating them for Halloween. The assembly also was designed to show appreciation for the many volunteers who have assisted the Lower School Garden Club in their maintenance of the garden throughout the summer and autumn. All volunteers received certificates and gathered for a group photo with the students. The Lower School students returned to their classrooms to begin working on their pumpkins for the big day.
