Kindergarten Class Honors Legendary Dance Leaders

Rudy Brandl '83

Mrs. Jennifer Geissler's Kindergarten class explored the topic of “What makes a good leader?” as part of their Legendary Leaders study and added an artistic twist to entertain an audience of parents, teachers and peers at last Friday’s Lower School Assembly in the Berry Performing Arts Center.

Mrs. Trina Junod, Assistant Director of Admission, joined the class as a guest teacher highlighting three legendary leaders in the performing arts – Josephine Baker, Chita Rivera and Misty Copeland. After discussing the impact that these women have had on the world,  Mrs. Junod taught dance styles to represent three styles of dance: ballet, the Charleston and Mambo.  The students performed at the assembly to the song, “I Really Love to Dance” by Laurie Berkner Band, incorporating choreography taught by Mrs. Junod in the three styles of dance. Mrs. Geissler and Mrs. Junod are very proud of our Kindergarten students, who worked hard to learn all the choreography and perform it with smiles and enthusiasm!
