International Students Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival

Rudy Brandl '83

Wardlaw+Hartridge international students and Chinese language students gathered in the Oakwood Room to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, a cherished holiday that symbolizes family reunions, gratitude and togetherness. The celebration brought students together for an afternoon of cultural traditions, creativity and community, featuring moon cake making and tasting, arts and crafts, poetry and songs. Students also enjoyed the opportunity to make their own moon pies while learning more about the history and significance of this special occasion.

Chefs Anibal and Tom provided hands-on instruction during the moon cake-making activity, helping students explore the culinary traditions associated with the festival. Gerard Gonnella, Director of International Program, and Hua Liu, World Language Chair and Director of China Studies, also joined the festivities. The celebration offered a meaningful opportunity for students in Grades 9–12 to share their cultural heritage, strengthen friendships and experience the diversity that makes the W+H community so special.
