The W+H Stocks and Investments Club hosted a very informative event featuring two esteemed speakers on January 24. Mr. Hardik Brahmbhatt, father of Aarav Brahmbhatt ’28, works at the New York Stock Exchange and facilitated a Zoom with his colleague Mr. John Olivares, Product Manager at Intercontinental Exchange (parent company of the New York Stock Exchange) who specializes in exchange-traded fund products.
They shared valuable insights on analyzing exchange-traded funds and stocks, understanding key economic indicators that influence the market, and strategies for long-term investing. It was an engaging and informative session that gave students a deeper understanding of the world of investing.
One key takeaway from the presentation was gaining insight into the complexities of evaluating exchange-traded funds and stocks beyond just their price movements. The discussion on exchange-traded funds helped clarify how different sectors respond to economic shifts, which will be valuable in making more informed investment decisions. Additionally, hearing firsthand from professionals at the New York Stock Exchange provided great insight into the intersection of technology and finance, showing the importance of companies needing to stay adaptable in today’s ever-evolving market.
“As we manage the $25,000 portion of W+H’s endowment, the insights we gain from speakers like these continually prove invaluable,” Stocks and Investments Club leader Adam Eisdorfer ’25 said. “They will help us make confident, well-informed decisions as we select investments that shape our portion of the fund.”
