Fourth Graders Learn More About Peru

Rudy Brandl

Two special guests, one in person and another on Zoom, enlightened fourth grade students about Peru during their Spanish classes last week.

Andy Webster, Head of School, visited the class in person and shared beautiful photographs and experiences from his trip accompanying W+H students during a service learning trip to Peru. Mr. Webster described the beauty of the landscape, the culture and customs to a group of young students he hopes someday will have an opportunity to participate in a school service learning trip.

Tania and Enzo Virto, parents of Aiden ’29 and Enzo ’27, originally from Lima, Peru, joined the class on Zoom. They kindly shared information about their trips to Peru, the food they enjoy and how much they love soccer. The students felt very excited about learning more about the Nasca lines and the Huacachina oasis.

“Those two visits provided lots of important information for us to write the remaining chapters of our book Jorge quiere ir a Perú,” said Sra. Maria Hinestoza, Lower School Spanish teacher.
