The Upper School’s Black Student Alliance kicked off Black History Month on February 2 with a presentation at Monday’s Upper School meeting in the Berry Performing Arts Center. BSA members Saadia St. Victor ’27 and Sydney Thompson ’27 featured famous Black athletes including Jesse Owens, Serena Williams, Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali in their presentation. The BSA allyship group will highlight other fields like music, science and entertainment in upcoming presentations.
Dr. Corinna Crafton, Head of School, combined recognition of Black History Month and the students’ current study of Legendary Leaders by sharing the book Superheroes are Everywhere by Kamala Harris during her monthly reading visit to the Kindergarten classroom on February 3.
All three W+H divisions will be recognizing Black History Month with various activities throughout February. This will include assemblies and interactive presentations from BSA members to younger students.
