International Experiences

Through school-sponsored and faculty-supervised trips, Wardlaw-Hartridge students have had opportunities to experience educational trips to destinations such as China, Italy, France, Peru, and Spain.

Italy

Wardlaw-Hartridge School teachers also chaperoned a week-long tour of Italy.  Students spent time in Rome, Pompeii, Sorrento, and Capri, and walked through the Forum, the Colosseum, the Vatican, and many other famous historical structures.

China

Two of The Wardlaw-Hartridge School's Mandarin teachers supervised students on a 10-day trip to China.  The students visited many great landmarks including the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, the Summer Palace, and the Forbidden City.

Peru

"These transformative service learning experienes for our students become the most cherished memories of Upper School . . . It is wonderful to see how our students adapt to varied challenges, learn to work together, and dig into their inner resources that they may not know they possess." - Andrew Webster, Head of School, Member of 2012 trip to Peru.

Guatemala & Belize

Wardlaw-Hartridge students and chaperones visited Guatemala and Belize on summer service learning trips in 2015 and 2016. Their 2015 work in Guatemala included building a walkway and gate and painting steps and the gate at a school in the village of Las Vinas. In 2016, they worked with local men and youthful volunteers to rebuild a basketball court by breaking up concrete, sorting and moving stones and hauling sand and gravel. The students and chaperones bond with homestay families and tour beautiful landscapes. These trips offer wonderful bonding and team building opportunities.

Spain
