Wardlaw-Hartridge Parents' Association

The WHPA enhances the academic, cultural and social experiences of our children and supports the school. Through fundraising we have supported a variety of assemblies and social events for students in all three divisions. We have also made significant contributions to capital campaigns as well as our very popular Mini Grant Program.

Each Year through fundraising events and contributions from our families and community, we are able to provide more than  $100,000 for the following:

  • $60,000+ towards capital campaigns – currently Performing Arts Enhancements
  • $13,000 yearly towards Faculty Development
  • $10,000 in mini-grants to our teachers to enhance the classroom experience
  • $5,000 in mini-grants to student clubs/teams to supplement their fundraising efforts
  • $4,000 for various assemblies for all grade levels
  • $4,000 for International Family Fun Night (our famous multi-cultural family event)
  • $4,000 for the Indie Film Festival
  • $22,000 for Graduations, Senior Portraits and Signs, concert receptions, Faculty appreciation, prom & class trip transportation and so much more!

Dawn Francavilla, Director of Student Life, delivered a Hot Topics presentation about The Wardlaw-Hartridge School's community service program at the conclusion of the Parents' Association Meeting on March 9. Ms. Francavilla discussed the many ways in which W-H students in all three divisions become involved in community service, volunteering and service learning. She provided many examples of service opportunities and emphasized the importance of students becoming involved.
The Wardlaw-Hartridge School held its fourth annual INDIE Film Festival on Feb. 22 at the South Orange Performing Arts Center in South Orange. This year's films were deep and thought provoking, exploring topics including racism, mental illness, insecurity and depression. The student filmmakers were escorted to the venue in limousines and entered SOPAC on a red carpet prior to the film showcase. They posed for pictures on the red carpet as the event took on the aura of a night at the Oscars.
Head chef Anibal Rodriquez delivered an informative presentation to parents in a Hot Topics discussion after the Parents' Association meeting on Feb. 17 in the Oakwood Room. Chef Anibal distributed the SAGE Dining Services mission statement and a sample menu, which reflects that there is "something for everyone" to eat. Anibal assured the parents, "Your child should not be hungry." He shared that SAGE takes great pride in making most items from scratch and also makes accommodations for food allergies.
