Karl Miran, Athletic Director, announced the Middle School Athletes of the Week during the divisional assembly on Feb. 10 - basketball players Max Hu '21 and Ryan Brandl '22 and girls' basketball and cheer team members Emmy Tobey '21 and Leila Hernandez-Webster '21 (left) and Zara Zaidi '24.
Max has been an outstanding defender and rebounder for the Gold team. He is the team's most aggressive player and is averaging six points per game over our three most recent contests.
Ryan contributes on both ends of the floor for the Gold Rams. A great one-on-one defender, he has blocked a number of opponents’ shots this year. Ryan also sees the floor and distributes the ball well. He is averaging more than five points per game, including a number of 3-pointers.
Leila, Emmy and Zara volunteered to step outside their comfort zone to help the girls basketball team, so they could finish their season. Their action is an example of the teamwork we hope to instill in all of our athletes - a willingness to put others before ourselves. They are also demonstrating one of our school’s core values - that of building community.
