Alumni Help Meet the Challenge

The Hyde and Watson Foundation awarded a $100,000 challenge to The Wardlaw-Hartridge School for the First Impressions-Lasting Results Campaign and more than 70 alumni and parents took the challenge and supported the campaign.

"The Foundation gift was intrumental in the success of the overall campaign and helped the school reach its goal in time for opeing of school this fall," says Bill Jenkins, Director of Development.

The courtyard and main entrance have been totally transformed.  The new courtyard has changed into a practical, uinque space that is already the gathering space for students, faculty and staff.  The a canopy and lobby of the main entrance is now a dramatic introduction to the school and the adjacent hallways and Administrative Offices.

The Hyde and Watson Foundation Challenge generated great enthusiasm and momentum for the campaign and we are truly appreciative of their support.

"We would be remiss in forgetting Hurricane Katrina," advised Jed Horne, double Pulitzer Prize-winning author and son of former Headmaster, Prentice C. Horne, during a special assembly for Upper and Middle School students, "Learning from Katrina." Reception for Donors to the First Impressions - Lasting Results Campaign

On the evening of October 4, the school's newly-refurbished and landscaped courtyard was filled with elegant decor, the buzz of lively conversation, music by Jane Brown, and sumptuous hors d'oeuvres and refreshments for the Donor Reception held to formally thank donors who have contributed to the First Impressions-Lasting Results Campaign. The campaign enabled the renovations and enhancements made to the school, which provided a new school entrance, lobby, Admission Suite and other improvements.

Purchase a Commemorative Brick

With the recently completed upgrades to the New Courtyard we now have a limited number of bricks that can be purchased.

These bricks are an ideal way to commemorate a loved one, a graduation date or a way to show The Wardlaw-Hartridge School that you support it’s outstanding achievements. Most importantly, they provide you an opportunity to leave a lasting impression at the school.

The New Courtyard is a visible link between the School’s past and present and provides a special gathering place for students and alumni.

A brick for the New Courtyard may be purchased for $500. Recent Graduates (2003-2007) and Faculty and Staff may purchase bricks for $250. Your gift will help the completion of the First Impressions - Lasting Results Campaign.
