Lower School Students Display Best Work at Art Show

The Art Show was held on Friday, May 13. Mrs. Susan Howard, Lower School art teacher, matted and hung approximately 400 pieces of artwork and displayed ceramic sculptures created by the prekindergarten through fifth grade students.

The art room was turned into a colorful feast for the eyes. The hall and the library were filled with art. Pastel animals created by the fourth grade, self-portraits by the fifth grade, samplers by the third grade, Chinese calligraphy collages from the second grade, monsters from the first grade, and paintings of all types from our youngest children were just some of the artwork included in the show.

It was wonderful to see so many of our parents take a little time from their very busy schedules to enjoy the art created by our Lower School students.

Enjoy these pictures of the Lower School Art Show.

Lian Cancyrn '12, David Pinkowski '11 Honored for Sportsmanship

The annual Greater Middlesex Conference Sportsmanship Banquet was held on May 18 at the Pines Manor. Each member school was allowed to nominate two student-athletes to be honored.

Wardlaw-Hartridge put forth junior Lian Cancryn '12 and senior David Pinkowski '11. Both student-athletes epitomize what it means to have excellent sportsmanship. The duo are part of a very small group of Ram athletes who have been three sport athletes throughout their careers at W-H.

David has been a leader on the soccer, swimming and golf teams and has led through example throughout his stellar four-year career. Lian has earned letters in soccer, basketball and softball. What makes the two so special and deserving of this award is their ability to know what the teams’ needs are and fill that role to the best of their ability. Congratulations!
