Lower School Students Shine at Spring Concert

A standing room only crowd enjoyed what many called the finest Wardlaw-Hartridge Lower School Concert ever on Thursday, May 10. Catchy tunes filled the air with instrumentals and vocals that delighted the crowd.

The show began with the Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten students singing The Rainbow Connection and Hala lala layya and I've Got Music Down in My Heart. Percussion was provided by Anya Batra, Isabella Caldwell, Michael Howell III, Vinay Karthik and Nikeeta Khurana.

The fourth grade beginning band took the stage and played six songs: Go Tell Bill, Hot Cross Buns, Merrily We Roll Along, Au Claire de la Lune, Farm Out and Sweetly Sings the Donkey. The Kindergarten and first grade sang I'm Gonna Sit at the Welcome Table, Guantanamera (with percussion by Rohan Batra and Varleine Coq) and Crocodile Rock.

The fifth grade band performed four selections: Fanfare Heroica, Montego Bay, Rock-A-Bye Baby and Loosen Up Take Two. The third grade recorder consort, with percussion by Olivia Brown, Elijah Gray, Leila Hernández-Webster, Shaan Jasti, Anna Razvi and Ronit Shahane, played Kumbaya.

The second and third graders sang Magic with soloists Emma Rose Jacobson, Talia Jacobson, Jason Kisare, Simone Erachshaw, Kyler Montague and Suniti Shah, Hope is a Hidden Star and Hitori, with percussion by Aarush Dharayan, Tenajah Eldridge, Nicholas Ji, Julian Kaniuka, Nicole Ling, Elijah Ojo, Chetan Yasa and Masoma Zaidi

The fourth and fifth graders performed four vocals: Sahayta with soloists Stanislav DeLaurentiis, Sydney Johnson, Janeyce McCray, Aanandi Murlidharan, Briella Payami, Sydney Rose and Alexandra Vargas, Flying Free, Count on Me and Galop.

All students came together for the finale, a wonderful rendition of We Are the World with Dazyln Erachshaw on wind chimes and soloists Mikayla Cole, Lillian Helander, Kaeli Montague, Amanda Lutz, Marcia Ojo, Nadia Valcourt and Sara Reiss.

The performers, parents and other guests enjoyed an Olympic themed reception in the Oakwood Room following the concert.
