Wardlaw-Hartridge Upper School Students Travel to Altair, Spain Over Spring Break; Altair Students Visit W-H
During spring vacation, 14 Upper School students traveled to Spain to visit with students at The Altair Colegio Internacional in Madrid. Directly thereafter, Wardlaw-Hartridge families opened their homes to 18 students from Altair. The exchange program, which began approximately 11 years ago, has always enriched the lives of the students from both schools, fostering an appreciation for different cultures and traditions.
The Wardlaw-Hartridge students attended classes at Altair with their Spanish friends and they traveled to the Retiro Park, the Real Madrid Soccer Stadium, Cordoba, Segovia, and Toledo. During their stay, the Spanish students attended classes such as Mandarin Chinese with Hua Liu and art with Gale Goldman. They also visited New York City and Princeton.
Yolanda Reyes, Upper School Spanish teacher and World Languages Department Chairperson, stated, "The purpose of the program started initially as a way to expose the students to the Spanish language, but it has become so much more of a cultural experience."
